Description

Restore CPU BIOS, formatted hard disk with Windows 95, and Lotem software.

1. Required Items

Three Floppy Disks:
 1. Lotem BIOS

2. Lotem Startup Diskette

3. Backup Registry and Database

One CD:
Lotem Windows 95 Operating System version 2.0

Lotem Application - Version CD

Write down: The Lotem TCP/IP

2. Download files for the floppy disks

The Windows 95 Operating System version 2.0 CD, BIOS diskette and Startup (EZ Restore) diskette are supplied with each installation kit. However, the diskettes often get lost or written over after installation. These two diskettes can be recreated using downloaded files from the Tech Planet. You must follow this procedure to recreate the diskettes. The downloaded files are not only self-extracting, but they reformat the floppy disk along the way copying system files so that the diskettes become bootable.

Be sure to have a current Registry and Database backup diskette on hand.
 Make one if necessary.
1.Recreate the BIOS diskette
a. Download the Lotem Bios V 1.2 self extracting file to your laptop from: http://techplanet.creo.com/output/computer_to_plate/lotem800/nav/downloads.htm.
 b. When the File Download message appears asking you to open or save the file to your computer, select save. Save the file to a convenient place on your laptop. The downloaded file will be Bios_V1.2.EXE. Do not click on this file yet or copy it to a floppy.

NOTE: If you are working with Lotem Windows 95 Operating System version 1.0, you must download Bios_V1.1.EXE .
It is recommended to upgrade to version 2.0.

 c. Place an empty, formatted diskette in your laptop diskette drive (A:).
 d. Now click on the file Bios_V1.2.EXE. A DOS window will appear. Follow the window's instructions. Be sure to enter A: as the target location. The EXE file will then create a bootable diskette copying the system and support files.
 e. Remove the diskette and label it clearly as "Lotem Bios Ver.1.2".

2.Recreate the Startup (EZ Restore) diskette
 a. Download the Startup-Up diskette 501V51692 self extracting file to your laptop from: http://techplanet.creo.com/output/computer_to_plate/lotem800/nav/downloads.htm.
 b. When the File Download message appears asking you to open or save the file to your computer, select save. Save the file to a convenient place on your laptop. The downloaded file will be Startup.EXE. Do not click on this file yet or copy it to a floppy.
 c. Place an empty, formatted diskette in your laptop diskette drive (A:).
 d. Now click on the file Startup.EXE. A DOS window will appear. Follow the window's instructions. Be sure to enter A: as the target location. The EXE file will then create a bootable diskette copying the system and support files.
 e. Remove the diskette and label it clearly as "Lotem Startup".
